The Flex Toolkit is a collection of strategies teachers can use to help children cope better in primary school. The flex toolkit is designed for children who have traits of ADHD, regardless of whether they qualify for a diagnosis, and should be useful for a broad range of children. The project was funded by UKRI at the University of Exeter and has worked with teachers and parents to develop this project. The toolkit included educational videos about ADHD traits, neurodiversity and the science behind challenges with attention, impulsivity and hyperactivity, advice on setting goals and targets, and collaborating with parents and carers, and over 40 strategies that can be used to support individual students, small groups or your whole class.

Evidence Rating
The flex toolkit was produced at the University of Exeter, in a UKRI-funded project, in collaboration with a planning group of 33 adults and children with lived experience of ADHD or specialist knowledge of schools or ADHD. The current evidence shows that the toolkit improves a range of outcomes that relate to mental health and school-based impairment, and is acceptable for teachers to use in schools; however, the current study has a small sample size.
